Christmas market at Marienplatz – as of 27.11.2019
What would Munich be without the famous Christkindlmarkt around Marienplatz? It simply belongs to it and is the most visited market in the city. A huge, bright fir tree in front of the historic town hall provides a great atmosphere. The first Advent is usually the opening day, which is celebrated with special ceremonies. But also a side trip to the neighboring Kripperlmarkt is worthwhile (at the Rindermarkt). There is probably the largest assortment of hand-carved but also industrially manufactured crib figures.

Schwabinger Christmas market – as of 29.11.2019
Since 1976 there is the Schwabinger Weihanchtsmarkt. The charming flair of the market lies in its diversity and love of art. A jury will decide on the selection of the exhibited works as well as on the new admissions. This ensures that all exhibited works come exclusively from the studios and workshops of the exhibitors, i.e. that no merchandise is offered. The special feature of the market is the extensive cultural offer as well as the sculpture park in which artists exhibit their works.
